Hello there! Welcome to the Suburban Magick Blog. If you’re looking for small, subtle, meaningful moments of Magick, you’re in the right place; and I can’t wait to learn, explore, share, and create a community with you.
Who am I?
Who am I you might ask? I’m a “newbie” witch, I go by Tunder Roza. I’m a witch in my mother phase of life, aptly situated in a cozy traditional suburb outside of a large metropolitan area. I always tell people I live in a city just like Stars Hollow from Gilmore Girls, complete with a gazebo in the center of town, and a family owned diner that is as amazing as it is small. Like many of you I love to be outside, thank goodness we have plenty of trees. I also love to read and learn, cook and create. If these are a few of your favorite things you may find something that resonates with you here.

You may be wondering how I wound up here? I like to call this my path to paganism. As a child I spent most of my time in a lackadaisical Catholic family consisting of divorced parents and a younger sister, where spiritual exploration while not openly encouraged, was also not frowned upon. Probably sounds like a lot of now pagan or witch friends you know.
How did I get here?
I was always interested in plants and herbal “potions” so naturally my curiosity leaned towards witchcraft, which I explored through books…it was the 90s we didn’t have tiktok. I evolved into a teen that met similarly inclined friends that helped encourage some growth and exploration, if not outward practice and ritual. By the time I went to college as a young adult, I firmly identified my self as a pagan that began searching for their pantheon, and experimenting with crystals. I like to think of this as my Maiden phase.
Now in my Mother phase I’ve identified a pantheon – Norse – based on genealogy. I have found my self reignited in my pursuit of herbal knowledge and healing. Along the way a very dear friend of mine who knew about my witchy tendencies, reached out to learn more about my belief system; and this turned into regular discussions that drive us to learn and discover more of the magick around us, and guides us in making more meaningful additions to our practices.
What is this blog about?
If you can’t tell I’m still on my journey, while I have dabbled for a while, I’m no expert; and in fact struggle with my own self-acceptace. So much so that I wind up performing rituals in the dark alone, and at barely a whisper. If you’re looking to get more out of your witchy practice, and learn, and grow, I hope you’ll join me on this journey.

What I hope you’ll find on my blog are honest and thoughtful, informative and accessible posts that will inspire your magical practice. I look forward to posting stories of my own pagan festival celebrations. My opinions on resources and references. As well a DIYs and Exercises (sometimes literally) that you can use in your practice. Above all I hope to be accessible to everyone, and build a diverse community of pagans and witches; but intensely relatable to others like me living a pagan life in suburban zones.
If you’ve made it this far into the post, I invite you to become part of my online neighborhood. I’m so excited to read about you’re experiences and share in your journey as you interact with this blog. Thank you so much for reading, and I hope you’ll consider subscribing to my mailing list, and following along on social media.
Again thanks for reading, and blessed be!
